Speaker: Don Boras

Don Boras has worked as a consulting archaeologist for Arrow Archaeology since 2003.  He has been involved on numerous projects in Southern B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan, including forestry, highway, gas, oil, water, subdivision, wind farm and major transmission line developments.

Consulting Archaeologists make up the majority of professional archaeologists in North America, working on a diverse array of projects. Legislation to preserve archaeological and historical resources has been passed in most jurisdictions, mandating that professional investigation occur before development can proceed.  As a result, far more ‘rescue archaeology’, as it used to be called, now occurs to record and preserve archaeological data that would have been obliterated by development in the past.  This talk will focus on some recent projects Arrow has been involved with, providing insights into what consulting archaeologists actually do.

Location in Library: Community Meeting Room
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
